The healing properties of mushrooms

Mushrooms are a popular tool in folk medicine. Scientific research of their healing qualities began in the 50s of the XX century. Compounds with high anticancer activity were found in fungi. So, it has been established that the Japanese Shiitake mushroom and Veselka, common in temperate climates, contain substances that stimulate the production of a regulator of abnormal cell division of perforin.

Such an effect is given by these mushrooms only in the form of tinctures and specialists should be involved in preparing the medicine. Veselka can also be used in the treatment of stomach ulcers.

The healing properties of tincture of hardwood tinder are used in the treatment of pulmonary diseases, in particular tuberculosis. You can also stop its development with chanterelle extract.

In addition, this mushroom is used to treat tonsillitis, abscesses, boils or is used in powder form as an anthelmintic, which must be taken on a teaspoon per day for more than a week. Interesting data on the beneficial properties of mushrooms can be found in Japanese sources of knowledge. It is known that geisha from ancient times used the meitake mushroom to normalize the functioning of the reproductive system, improve well-being during menstruation and reduce weight.

In folk medicine, mushrooms were used to treat alcohol dependence (dung beetle), the nervous system (morel) was put in order, and skin frostbite was used (porcini mushroom).

Scientists have found that the green mushroom, abundantly forming fruiting bodies in autumn, contains a substance that prevents the formation of blood clots, which can be used as an anticoagulant. Among Japanese mushrooms, a representative is found rich in isoprenoid lanostan, which is used in the treatment of allergy manifestations (dermatitis, asthma, in particular).

The use of mushrooms in a thermally processed or pickled form provides invaluable benefits for improving bowel function. Such food contains many healthy dietary fiber, is poor in cholesterol and sodium ions, is enriched with components that improve the functioning of the immune system, and prevents the malignancy of cells involved in the formation of tumors.

Thanks to antioxidants, the healing effect of fungi on the work of the liver, eyes, kidneys, and bone marrow is also great. Many mushrooms have a good laxative effect and contain valuable trace elements (zinc, copper), for example, autumn mushrooms.

To improve the condition of the body, powders from dried mushrooms can be consumed. This substance, prepared from butter, relieves headaches well, from boletus – cleanses the blood and lowers cholesterol.

Now, medicinal preparations are being actively created on the basis of medicinal mushrooms, which, depending on the composition, can treat any disorders in the functioning of internal organs and systems in the human body, including the heart, pancreas, and even diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Meadow honey mushrooms have an antibacterial effect against intestinal infections (bacillus, Staphylococcus aureus).

Finally, I would like to write successful examples of the use of mushrooms for external purposes. Probably many have heard from grandmothers about the old Russian method of treating radiculitis and rheumatism with tincture of fly agaric.

For external use, while relieving pain in joints, arthritis and other inflammatory diseases of the skeleton and muscles, tincture of ordinary line (spring mushroom) is used. This mushroom is also used in the treatment of spurs and grown bones on the sides of the foot. To increase the effectiveness of the action, the treated area is wrapped in woolen cloth.
